He is survived by his daughters, Evelyn Powell Jennings and Nancy Powell; his son-in-law, William Jennings; grandsons, Ryan and Raurri Jennings; great-granddaughter, Alana Durkin; nephew, Kelly Wilson; and nieces, Irene and Tara Wilson.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Elizabeth (Betty) Powell on December 12, 2019. Bill and Betty lived in West Irondequoit for over sixty years, most recently at Chapel Oaks on Portland Avenue.
Bill was a proud Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific in World War II and in the Naval Reserve. He retired from the Navy as a Lt. Commander. He was grateful for the GI Bill that allowed him to earn an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He worked for many years for the Alling & Cory Company, retiring as its treasurer.
Bill and Betty were active members of Third Presbyterian Church for many years. They both enjoyed classical music and birdwatching and were long-time members of the Rochester Birding Association. Bill enjoyed following the Buffalo Bills and his hometown baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was devoted to his family and a caring and generous man, dearly loved by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service to honor his life will be scheduled when we can all gather in person. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, 255 East Avenue, Rochester 14604 or to Planned Parenthood of Rochester, 114 University Avenue, Rochester 14605.
