Suzanne H. Spelman

Suzanne H. Spelman, age 76 passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at FF Thompson Hospital with her family by her side.  

Sue is survived by her children: Susan (Douglas) McBride of Reeves, LA, Jean Schultz of Reston, VA, and James (Holly) Spelman of Bloomfield; Grandchildren: Abigail McBride (Travis) Morton, Benjamin (Krystal) McBride, Nathan, James, and Jayden McBride, Erin (Eric Robichaud) Schultz, Megan (Bryan) St. John, Steven and Justin Spelman, and Madison and Logan Jackson; and her Great Grandchildren: Liam McBride, Callie Ann and Brody Morton, Callahan and Rowan McBride, and Everleigh and Tatum St. John.  

In addition, Sue is survived by many dear friends and her cousins, Paul Francis and Alan Clunies.

Sue was predeceased by her husband, Steven M. Spelman, parents George and Helen Francis, brother Thomas Francis, grandson Jonathan McBride, and great-granddaughter Autumn St. John.  

Sue enjoyed playing cards with friends, spending time in Vine Valley, visiting with neighbors, making desserts, canning pickles, fishing, looking for deer on South Hill in Middlesex, telling jokes, reading books, watching sci-fi movies, singing, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

The family wishes to thank all who have supported Sue, especially the caring members of the East Bloomfield Volunteer Ambulance and the amazing staff at FF Thompson Hospital’s ICU Department.

No prior calling.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10am at Overacker’s Cemetery, 479 State Route 364, Middlesex, New York.  Reception to follow at the Vine Valley Community House, 6369 Vine Valley Road, Middlesex, New York.    

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue’s memory can be made to East Bloomfield Volunteer Ambulance c/o Canandaigua Emergency Squad, 233 North Pearl Street Canandaigua, New York 14424.  Please note “East Bloomfield Fund” on your check.  

Sue lived life with a smile in an outgoing and positive way.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
