Passed into the arms of the lord on Oct. 21, 2022, after a long struggle with health issues. Funeral arrangements made by David McKee.
Richard was the son of Shirley Nuijens and William W. McKee. Richard’s love of cars led him to own and operate his own business, "Britelights Details", for many years. He was an avid Nascar and Buffalo Bills fan. He was an expert spokesperson on all things HotWheels related. For many years, he would "pack the tent" at Empire Farm Days talking about the history of HotWheels. His extreme knowledge of them led to an article in a national newspaper.
He is survived by his son, David (Lindsay) McKee; granddaughters, Riley and Lily (whom he loved with all his heart); mother, Shirley Nuijens of Rochester; sisters, Brenda Marshall of Rochester, Julie (Doug) Baxendell of North Carolina; brother, Billy McKee of North Carolina; life partner, Liz Wiatrowski and their Boston Terriers, Mia & Kolbe; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents; father, William McKee; stepfather, Richard Nuijens; and his first Boston Terrier, Maxx.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, 4-7 PM at the funeral home (495 N. Winton Rd). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY 13165 (beverlyanimalshelter.com).
