Ray Rockcastle
November 10, 1935 ~ January 9, 2014 (age 78) 78 Years OldHello Brenda, Greg, Troy, and family,
I hope this "story" finds you well. It is ironic I received this e-mail since it was only recently that I was thinking back to when we were kids, one afternoon. I remembered with a smile, coming to visit you at that "wood-type" house out in the country(with the pond). I remember Uncle Ray always having little tricks up his sleeve that would result in something disappearing and reappearing or if we were really lucky, would result in money!! That is the first and only time we left with a $20 bill from a relative in our life so that was big money and definitely made an impact.
Although I never spent much time with your family, the few times I was around, I remember Uncle Ray seeming gentle, loveable, and at peace with himself. He seemed to have a relaxed personality and that was magnetic to a high-strung little girl like me. I must reiterate that I was in elementary school and only visited a few times, unfortunately.
Greg was assigned the task of "entertaining" us while the adults talked. Greg (and Troy) would take us to the pond and if I'm not mistaken, we even went out on a boat, one time. At the end of the day, we left feeing happy and satisfied.
I wish we had been able to spend more time with you when we were growing up.
Brenda, I never had much time to visit with you, as we've all gone our separate ways over the years. I do remember you being very kind and welcoming us into your home. I can't imagine my life without Jim, especially as you age and you plan to spend your remaining years with your loved one. I hope the last year has afforded you new experiences to help try and heal your grief.
Jim, Jack, James, and I wish you all the best. I hope you are all doing well. I'm sorry again about Uncle Ray's passing. Please know that even though we don't see one, another ever, I do think of you all with very fond memories.
With love,
Erica, Jim, Jack, and James Cuilla
