Brighton - Noel Kuschke, nee Newton (Oberman) 86 of Rochester New York, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, surrounded by family. She was lovingly cared for by her family, in her home by Hospice of Rochester, and at Journey Home Hospice House in Greece, NY.

Noel is predeceased by her parents, Charles Noble Newton and Mary Ryan Newton.  Her siblings, Charles Newton, Robert Newton, Marianne (Edward) Scanlan.   Her husbands, Francis Oberman and William Kuschke.

She is survived by her children Ellen Stanford, Michael Oberman and Kathy Parnell, Brenda and Jim Hicks, Dina and Robin Stein, Christopher and Maureen Oberman, & Mary and Ken Kuschke.  Grandchildren: Christine (Jeff) Kuhn, Benjamin Hicks, Nicholas (Kelly) Stanford, Ian LaWare Oberman, Joseph John and Jennifer Kuschke.  Emma and Samuel Stein.  Great Grand Children: Anthony, Sarah, Dean, Eleanor, Margaret, and Dorothy Kuhn; Basil Hicks and Wesley Stanford.

Noel was born in Scranton, PA and graduated from St Paul’s Catholic High School in 1957 with some high school friends remaining close with her until her passing. After high school she attended Jefferson Medical School of Nursing in Philadelphia, which she always remembered as a special time in her life. In 1959 she met and married Frank Oberman and together they had six children. She and Frank lived in Towanda PA, and Avon NY before finally settling in Penfield, NY.  During these years she ran a thriving sewing business out of her home while raising a family.  Frequent visits to the family cottage in Pennsylvania reunited the family along with baseball of all kinds every year.

Noel expanded her career into Kitchen design and then became a successful Real Estate Agent.  All the while, sewing in the background for family and friends.  In the early 1980’s Noel and Frank separated and she moved to Fairport. She reunited with Bill Kuschke and moved to Buffalo, NY.  They married in 1988 and she re-opened her sewing business, Noel Interiors, one of her all-time loves.  Noel and Bill remained married until his passing in 2020 after which she retired from sewing.

Another passion of hers which she grew up playing with her parents and siblings was Pinochle. She could often be found at the Amherst Senior Center playing for dimes.

In 2022 Noel moved back to Rochester to be closer to her children and enjoyed a lively social life at St John’s Meadows. Noel loved her “puppies”, traveling to Las Vegas, the game of golf, the Buffalo Sabres, the Buffalo Bills and especially Josh Allen!  She began crocheting, playing Pinochle and swimming again.   She was able to establish some very special friendships in her final years.

Friends may call to the funeral home (495 N. Winton Rd., Rochester) Saturday, May 23 from 9-11 am. A celebration of life will follow at 11 am. Private interment at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo will take place at the family's convenience.
