Michael Wilson Obituary

It is with profound sadness to announce the sudden passing of Michael Bentley Wilson on September 3, 2021 at the all-too-young age of 68.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia and brother, Peter. He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Diane and his much-adored children, Denise Tehan (Bill), Katy (Santosh), Mike (Rhian) and Connor as well as grandchildren, Will, Patrick, Molly, Ella, Chase, Noah, Gabriel, and Ellie, who were all the apple of his eye. His beloved and faithful rescue dog Penny will miss him dearly. Siblings, Jack (Lois), Abby (Jay), Suzy (Brian), Polly (Art) can’t imagine life without their big brother.  Mike also had many nieces and nephews whom he cherished.

Mike was a legend in the produce industry for over 50 years. He proudly worked alongside his sons, Mike and Connor and his nephew, Andy, mentoring them to always be their best. Mike’s endearing and easy-going personality drew people in, and many became life-long friends. He had a unique and wonderful sense of humor and relished playing the same prank or retelling the same joke. He had a gift for delivering it as though it were the first time…every time.
Mike had a very adventurous spirit. Sundays were his favorite day to enjoy a leisurely drive, with many trips landing in a small town on one of the Finger lakes. He loved finding new places to explore. He thoroughly enjoyed family vacations, especially national parks, visiting California and places significant in American history. He was quite a history buff, with an astonishing level of knowledge.

Mike had many passions: but most importantly, family and friends. The love of his family was second to none. He always made sure everyone knew they were loved. He was never too busy to take a call or lend a hand. No request was too much, and no task was too big.

Mike loved reminiscing with his late brother, Peter, about seeing bands before they became famous. He enjoyed the music of The Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull, The Beatles, The Beach Boys and many more.

Mike was a star on the football field during his high school years. He played for the Rush-Henrietta Comets as the starting halfback. He had a dominating senior year in 1970, with 14 touchdowns and 92 total points. He was All County in the West Division.  Sporting events were near and dear to him. He was a lifelong Bills, Yankees, and Celtics fan. He also loved attending games and watching his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews play. It did not matter if it was a t-ball game or the sectional finals, he cheered them on with great enthusiasm and was their biggest, and number one fan. His postgame phone calls recapping the game were always welcome.

We invite you to attend a celebration of Mike’s beautiful life at Dolomite Lodge, 1628 Jackson Rd. in Veteran’s Memorial Park, Penfield NY on Sunday, September 12th from 1-5PM. Friends are invited to bring photos and stories to share.
