Preceded in early death by her loving husband, Charles Stanley Taylor and her only child, Kathryn Irene Taylor (Kit).
The youngest of five children, Mary Jane was born in 1928 to Franklin and Edna (Brasser) Morley. She shared her life with three brothers Robert, Franklin, and Warren, one sister Elaine.
Raised in Rochester, NY, Mary Jane graduated from East High School in 1947. She attended Brockport Teachers College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree and later earned a Master’s Degree in Childhood Education from Columbia University in 1957.
Mrs. Taylor’s teaching career included 26 years in the Rochester City School District in schools 33, 11, 46, and 14. Other assignments were served in Freeport, Long Island and Mildenhall, England with the American Air Force Dependents Schools.
Mary Jane spent many years forming awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and was instrumental in creating the Rochester C.F. Chapter and the C.F. Clinic at Strong Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her sister, Elaine Riess; many loving nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 18, 4-7 PM, at the funeral home (495 N. Winton Road). A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, October 19, 11 AM, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 1124 Culver Road.
