Born April 2, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. At six months old, the family moved to Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. When she was seven, the family moved to Rochester, NY, which became her permanent place of residence. Margaret graduated from West High School in 1942, and then worked most of her life in the accounting field. She retired as a consolidation staff accountant in 1984 from Sybron Corp.
She met Paul Cooley in 1959 at TKM Electric Corp. They got married in October of 1960 and had 35 years of a wonderful marriage until his death in 1995. Margaret enjoyed traveling across the U.S. as well as cruising to many countries in Europe and Africa. She was also an avid bowler until age 97, scoring 145 consistently.
A member of Immanuel Baptist Church (IBC) from 1976 to 2000, Margaret was a member of the Board of Trustees, served as chairman for a period of time, and also was part of the Finance Committee. During her years of membership at IBC she was appointed Church Auditor, elected to the office of Co-Moderator, and had the honor of being invited to serve on the Ordination Committee for one of the Church's members. In 2000, she left IBC to join Baptist Temple where she worshiped until 2006 when she transferred her membership to First Baptist Church of Rochester (FBCR). At FBCR she served on the Library Committee, was active in the Remington-Hubbell Circle, Eldergarten, and in the Fellowship Program. Margaret contributed to her community by volunteering in the Fairport Baptist Homes Gift Shop and through membership on the Women's Service Board of the Homes.
