Lilian A. Rees

As with everything in her wonderful long life, Lilian “Nan” Rees passed gracefully surrounded by family and dear friends on June 21st, 2022, at the age of 90. She left us to join her loving husband of 66 years, John J. Rees. She is survived by her sister, Ivy Russell; son, Clive (Diane) Rees; granddaughter, Stephanie (Mike) Rees; grandsons, David (Amy) Rees and Russ Salamone; great-granddaughter, Lexi Salamone; and dear friends, Rosemary (Bob) Fishback, Wendy Kidder and Mark Shull.   

Lilian was known for being the calm and strong family matriarch. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed taking care of everyone. She thrived on feeding and entertaining all visitors to their home. Many great parties were had in the Rees basement, huddled around the bar and a table full of food. She moved about each gathering with ease and confidence, always making her work look easy. Laughter abounded as Lilian told stories and enjoyed the tales of others. Her door was always open for a stop-by cup of coffee, a sweet, and some kind words. Her gardening passion was infectious; carefully nurtured flowers flourished in her yard. She constantly shared cuttings and horticultural lessons with budding gardeners. Lastly, her powerful intuition was only paralleled by her sister Ivy. Lilian could predict events to come, know people’s intentions and gently offer sage advice before a question was asked. Lilian was all at once extraordinary, wise, perceptive, gentle, kind, polite, and loving with the power to nourish hearts and souls. She is already deeply missed.
   
Immediate family and close friends held a private gathering for Lilian.
