Passed away suddenly at home on August 20, 2022 at age 73. Born and raised in Altoona, PA to the late Arthur and Lois (Samels) Rossbach. After graduating from Bishop Guilfoyle High School (‘66), he attended Penn State Altoona and was the first person in his family to graduate from college. He met his wife of 50 years there and settled in Rochester, NY after serving 4 years in the Air Force. Joel was an avid amateur radio operator (N2EZV), held several patents and innovations during his 40-year career at Xerox Corp, and loved exploring by taking “the scenic route” home.
He is survived by his wife, Luana K. (Matto) Rossbach; four children, Juliana (Gian) Metzger, Sarah (Patrick) Conneely, Donna (Kyle) Kriegbaum and Alexander (Robin); grandchildren, Gregory Metzger, Charles Metzger, Andrew Kriegbaum and Everett Kriegbaum; brother, Jeffrey (Betty) and their two daughters, Jennifer and Christine; and brother-in-law, E.K. “Bud” (Carla) Matto, Jr. and their two sons, Benjamin and Matthew.
Joel will be deeply missed for his wit, advice, and hugs.
Friends will be received Friday, November 4, 2022, 4-7 PM, at the funeral home (495 N. Winton Rd.). A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, 10:30 AM, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Open Door Mission (opendoormission.com) or Verona Street Animal Shelter (vsas.org).
