Monday, January 13, 2020, at age 74 surrounded by her loving family. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Wilson; parents, John and Doris Stumpf; brother-in-law, Corey Owellen; and aunt, Joan McKnight. She is survived by her son, Jonathan Wilson; grandsons, Zachariah and Elijah Wilson; the devoted love of her life, John Lukasiewicz; three sisters, Louise Owellen, Suzanne (David) Etris, and Christine (Perry) Shepler; nephews, Michael (Mei Chen) Owellen, Steven Shepler, Casey (Michelle Messimer) Shepler; nieces, Kristen Smart and Alexandra Leischner; uncle, Thomas McKnight; and many close cousins.
After completing her studies at Greece Olympia, Joan studied at Hartwick College, graduated from the University at Buffalo, and earned her masters from Nazareth College. She taught math and science at Eastridge Jr. High School. Joan was an avid genealogist and master puzzle solver. She had a charitable heart serving grieving spouses through the JANUS Bereavement Group of Lifetime Care, teaching ceramics at Baywinde Senior Living Community, and serving on Altar Guild at Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Her other passions were lifelong learning, building the family cabin in Springwater, NY, and spending time with her family.
Friends may call Friday, January 17, 5-8 PM at the funeral home (495 N. Winton Rd.). A Celebration of Joan's Life will be held Saturday, January 18, 10 AM, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1549 Dewey Ave., Rochester 14615. Interment immediately following at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
