January 17, 2020. After a life filled with family, friends, music, food, travel, and supporting the mental health of others, Dave passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54. Dave was born in New Rochelle, NY, to Erica (Lorio) Useda and Dr. Gustavo Useda (deceased). He graduated from Binghamton University, earned his Master’s at NYU, his doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and completed his postdoctoral work at the University of Rochester. He was a clinical psychologist at Rochester Psychological Associates.
Dave lived large. He enjoyed the richness of life and experienced it to its fullest. An adoring father. A connector of people and a devoted friend to many--across years, distances, and circumstances.
Dave is survived by his wife, Larisa (Boettcher) Useda, and his beloved sons, Turi and Andres; his siblings, Claudia Useda, Violet Useda-Linder (Lenny Linder), Gus Useda (formerly married to Monica Allen), and Silvia Cioffoletti (Anthony Cioffoletti); nieces and nephews, Alexandra, Michelle, Christopher, Nicholas, Caroline and Daniel.
Friends may visit on Friday, January 24, from 4-7 pm at the Crawford Funeral Home (495 Winton Road N, Rochester, NY 14610). A memorial service to honor Dave’s life will take place on Saturday, January 25, at 11 am, at the First Unitarian Church (220 S Winton Road, Rochester, NY 14610). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Dave’s name to namiroc.org to provide resources, tools and guidance for individuals with mental illness in Rochester.
