Harry was born to the late Harry Abraham Mackey, Sr. and Viola James Mackey, a laborer for a moving company and a homemaker, in Bronx, NY on June 23, 1954. He graduated from State University of New York College at Geneseo in 1976 with a degree in Science Education and was a teacher for the city of Rochester.
Though Harry was never married or had children of his own, the love he had, he shared and passed on to his two nephews. He showed deep interest for the wellbeing and development of his nephews, who he saw as his children and made sure to steer them to be great adults. He encouraged reading, science, and the appreciation of the arts, to name a few. He took them on trips to museums, theme parks, and natural wonders in multiple states.
Harry was an exceptional educator for nearly 40 years. He was kind, understanding, soft spoken but would not hesitate to be stern when the situation called. He was always there to give advice and to provide help to anyone. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
Harry is survived by his sister-in-law, Pablita; nephews, Larry and Mark; great-niece, Sophia Alise; great-nephews, Harrison Joseph and Alexander Marcell. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry, Joseph, Anthony, and Herbert; sisters, Treana and Patricia Ann; and parents.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 22, 9 AM, at All Seasons Chapel, White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd.
