May 11, 2019. Born Nov. 17, 1921 - Died May 11, 2019 at age 97. Predeceased by beloved husband of 64 years, Jake; brother, Harold (Grace) Smith; sisters, Laura (Shields) Hardin, Helen (Paul) Drosky, Evelyn (Floyd) Johnson, Bertha Smith and Beatrice Smith, and grandson, Scott DeVuyst. Gladys is survived by her son, James DeVuyst of Vancouver of Canada; daughter, Ruth Schaeffer of FL; foster son, Merle (Ann) Dingman; 3 grandchildren, Danielle DeVuyst, Daniel and Michael Schaeffer; 3 great grandchildren, Riley DeVuyst, Payton and Angelina Schaeffer and nieces and nephews, Lois (Chuck) Adrian, Tom (Marylou) Smith, Kay (John) Smith, Bob (Judy) Smith, Laurena (Bob) Fisher, David (Nancy) Hardin, Alan Hardin, Norma Drosky, Ray (Karen) Drosky, Brian (Rosemary) Drosky and Wayne (Donalda) Drosky. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Friends may call Thursday 4 -7 PM at the funeral home (495 N. Winton Rd.). A Graveside Service will be held Friday, 11 AM at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd., (meet at the main entrance) followed by a 12 PM Memorial Service at Trinity Reformed Church, 909 N. Landing Rd. Those wishing to do so can honor Gladys with a donation to Habitat for Humanity.
