Rochester: January 19, 2014. Predeceased by loving husband, Robert F. Edgerton, and her cherished sister, Ruth Strasenburgh. Survived by her sisters Jeanne Hutchins of Brighton, NY and Rosemarie Raynor of Tequesta, FL; her children, Pamela Ferguson of Brighton, NY and Sandra (Peter) Odenbach of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, Andrew, Michelle and Heather; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Grace and Drew; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Betty graduated from Monroe High School and Wells College. After marrying Bob and working for a short time she became immersed in her family and her many community volunteer activities. She was an active member of the Junior League and enjoyed most participating in Children's Theater. In her position as President of the Women's Council of the Rochester Museum and Science Center she was credited with having "boundless energy, a persuasive manner, and an executive know-how to get a job done well and quickly - a wise and witty community volunteer." Her other civic contributions included over 25 years of Girl Scouting in Rochester, as well as Paris, France; town and county planning boards; and Third Presbyterian Church where she was a "cradle to grave" member and elder.
A memorial service for the family will be held Saturday, June 14 at 10:30 AM at Third Church chapel, 4 Meigs St, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Wells College, Aurora NY 13026. Online Condolences welcomed at:
