Doris Kreckman

Died peacefully at age 89 on February 6, 2020 at St. John's Home. She is survived by her beloved and faithful partner of 32 years, David Rice; and by longtime friends, many of whom visited her daily the week before her death and reminded her of her permanent place in their hearts.  

Doris was born in Lorraine, NY and retired from the University of Rochester after 34 years. She was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church. She loved cats, birdwatching, handcrafts including the lost art of “tatting”, bus trips with friends, and adventures with David to beautiful natural places. Doris loved children and was a “surrogate grandmother” to Ben Pattison and Elizabeth Pattison Vant, Gareth Schuth, and the Bloomer boys. 

There will be a Celebration of her Life on Thursday, February 27, 10 AM, at the Chapel at St. John's Home, 150 Highland Ave.
