Bruce overcame physical challenges related to Cerebral Palsy his entire life. But his disability did not define him. Through it all, Bruce achieved personal and professional success that was an inspiration to all who came to know him. He graduated with honors from the University of Rochester, and ultimately received a master’s degree in Library Science from Syracuse University. His career in post-secondary education in research and library operations was continuously marked with achievement and advancement, culminating in his position as Executive Director of Scholes Library of Ceramics at the NYS College of Ceramics at Alfred University. In 1999, Bruce was awarded with the highly regarded NYS Chancellor’s Award for Librarianship. He was instrumental in developing the Scholes Library into the most comprehensive collection of bibliographic material on ceramic art and ceramic sciences in the world. Bruce was known for his warmth and easy manner, dedication to family and friends, and a ferocious sense of humor. He was loved intensely and will be tremendously missed.
