Passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019. He was born in Rochester in 1949 to Florence and Albert Katz. He was a graduate of Allendale Columbia High School and Hiram College in 1972.
Alan spent his career as a great lover of art. He was well known in the Rochester community for his picture framing stores and collaborations with many art galleries. Alan enjoyed gardening and traveling. He was especially fond of his summers on Nantucket Island.
Alan is survived by his two children from his marriage to Carla Phillips Katz, Danielle (Patrick) and Jonathan (Clarisse); his grandchildren, Shawn and Liam; his sisters, Diane Katz and Norma Goldman (Loren Kroll); and his nieces, Stefany and Lisa.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center. The center was instrumental in caring for Alan. Donations can be made online: http://www.hemocenter.org.
