Passed from this life on March 23, 2020 at age 89, following a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 66 years, Keith Adams; her children, David (Sheryl) Adams of Rochester, NY, Holly (Christopher) Adams of Hunt, NY; grandchildren Scott (Ali) Adams, Jacqueline Adams, Melissa Adams, Dillon Kronert, and Tyler Westcott; great grandchildren, Beatrice and Maxwell Adams; also nephews, nieces and cousins in Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Mavis.
June was born June 3, 1930 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to the late William Edward and Algora (Clark) Johnston. She married Keith Peter Adams on June 13, 1953, and resided in Toronto, Ontario. Together with their children they moved to Rochester NY in 1962. June was actively involved in the church where she served as an elder, taught Sunday school, and co-founded the Blossom Senior Citizens program. June was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She worked as a secretary at Strong Memorial Hospital in several capacities. Upon her retirement she was a long time volunteer at the Rochester Friendly Home, where she later became a resident herself.
June adored her family and loved spending time at the family cottage in Canada. She was well-traveled, enjoying time spent in Europe, Portugal and Florida. June loved music, theater, gardening and flowers. She was a friend to all, an amazing hostess and had a way of making everyone feel welcome and special. June gave of her time and energy to children, the elderly, and those in need throughout her life.
The family gratefully thanks the amazing Rochester Friendly Home staff, past and present, for their wonderful care over the past 5 years. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 20, 1 PM, at Trinity Reformed Church, 909 Landing Rd. North, Rochester 14625. A gathering will follow the service at 6 Pittsford Manor Lane, Pittsford 14534. Those wishing to do so may make contributions to the Open Door Mission, PO Box 14236, Rochester, NY, 14608.
