Hortense was my father's secretary for as long as I can remember. They had a terrific working relationship, and I found her to be an absolute delight. She was a vivacious presence who seemed to know everyone and everything in the courthouse, and had a delightfully acerbic sense of humor. I always enjoyed my interactions with her and hearing about her son, David, and his family.
