Predeceased by his high school sweetheart, bride, and beloved wife of 58 years, Marguerite (Margie); father and mother, Charles and Jennie Arena; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Dorothy Stiehler; brother, Joseph Arena; sister, Nancy Mancini; and his infant son, George J. Arena.
George is survived by his daughter, Marjorie (Missy) Arena; grandson, Dominic Arena who was his pride and joy and brought him so much pleasure later in life; sons, Gerard (Jerry) Arena (Patti Denny) and George (Debi) Arena; grandchildren, Brian, Christopher and Kimberly; several great-grandchildren; brother, Louis (Karen) Arena; sister-in-law, Phyllis Arena; aunt, Frances Cirafici; Godchildren, Jean Marie Doctor and Marci Richards; several wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially Steve and Dorothy Reeves; good friends, Patrick and Marie Gambin; "adopted daughter" Barbara Acciari; all the employees and tenants of the Renaissance Apartments where George was a manager for many years.
George served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers who helped George over the past few years, especially Terri, Vanessa, and Marie (RN), who he was exceptionally close to.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 20, 9:30 AM at St. Thomas More Church, 2617 East Ave. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's name to School of the Holy Childhood, 100 Groton Parkway, Rochester 14623 (www.holychildhood.org).
